About
Responding to the need for a quality education for missionary children in Niger and surrounding countries, Sahel Academy began in 1986. Today as an ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and MSA (Middle States Association) accredited school, it continues to provide a quality and affordable Christian education for students from Kindergarten - 12. On average, the school serves 140 students from more than 20 different countries. Its primary beneficiaries are the children of missionaries, but Sahel Academy also opens 30% of its enrollment to anyone interested in securing a Christian education for their children.
Located on the banks of the Niger River in Niamey, the capital city of the West African country of Niger, Sahel Academy is owned and operated by SIM. Other mission agencies have membership agreements with the school, including Faith Baptist Mission and Teach Beyond who, together with SIM, annually provide staff who are committed to the care and education of our students.
Sahel Academy’s curriculum reflects a biblical and multinational perspective which is Christ-centered, fulfilling rigorous international academic requirements and providing learning experiences that consider the various individual and cultural learning styles, skills and abilities of students. The school seeks to develop godly students who are ready for further education in their country of choice and who can engage in the world from God’s perspective.
